About Us

Our values
Ethical Expo strives to be an ethical event in every way, from how we work with our partners to the standards that exhibitors uphold, to the visitor experience of the event. We have taken care to partner only with companies who are taking a strong stand to promote ethical trading.

How we work
Ethical Expo Ltd [the firm] is working in partnership with Oxfam, the Fairtrade Foundation and Christian Aid to jointly bring you an event that you can be sure is totally ethical. A member of staff from each organisation sits on an advisory Steering Group that oversees the event, to ensure its ethical credentials.

Our customers
These are the most important people in the view of our partners and us! Our customers will attend the event free of charge, bringing an opportunity to learn about ethical choices to all groups in Bristol and beyond. Customers will be able to sample goods in a sustainable, recycling-friendly way and will be given clear directions on how to reach the event without needing to drive.

Our partners
All our partners and sponsors are organisations or companies that are actively working to increase ethical business and lifestyles; whether through the products they source and sell on, through their core business or through operating systems. Each has been asked to provide a 300-word ‘statement of purpose’ explaining why they are working with Ethical Expo Ltd. These can be viewed on our partners page. In addition, many of the images on our company and exhibition sites have been used with the kind permission of the Fairtrade Foundation.

Our exhibitors
Products on all stands will follow one or other of the following approved standards:

  1. Organic – selling certified organic food and / or clothing products.
  2. Fairtrade – selling FAIRTRADE Marked products wherever the certification is available.
  3. Fairly-traded (e.g. crafts) – BAFTS* and IFAT** members.
  4. Local sourcing – raw ingredients from within 40 miles
  5. Locally made using sustainably sourced ingredients or raw materials (i.e. Fairtrade, organic certified, FSC certified)

*British Association of Fair Trade Shops
**International Federation of Alternative Traders

Where the money goes
As soon as the firm has earned £-- to cover fixed costs, 30% of any profits made from Ethical Expo 08 will be invested into a Social Fund that will directly benefit social enterprises in the South West, particularly those with fair and ethical trading links overseas.
